Power valve setup

Fri Aug 30, 2013 4:43 pm » Post: #1 » Download Post

I have followed the guide to set the power valves, however the servo motor doesn't always move.

I have taken the TPS controller off the carbs and by turning it the servo motor (occasionally) rotates, but not always.

Am I missing something ?

Cheers

BTW both power vales move freely by hand. I have new seals etc, and everything is spotless. I guess I try disconnecting the valves to check the servo motor works on its own. Everything else electrical works and I have sparks at both plugs when turning the engine over

Cheers

Sorry I'm too new to the NSR to have any knowledge I could share re. your issue.
But always keen to learn: what did you fix?

The problem was the Throttle Position Sensor. Not only had it slipped from it's correct position but the main wiring was a little bit corroded. Lots of cleaning on the connections (and through out the entire loom) and careful positioning of the TPS and it's little plastic connecting piece. Both Power valves had been removed and cleaned and new seals and clips fitted before re-installing. To clean everything up i used very fine wire wool, available from you friendly plumbing supplier. Easy solution to position the power valves is a 5.5mm drill bit (fits a treat).
3 heat cycles done and the power valves move as they should. Of ffor an MOt on Wednesday and we are rolling again after my rebuild

Very nice.I like the remote reservoir positioning,I've got a Penske rear damper on an SP1,and the reservoir fits nicely under the tail cowl
