Politics...

So, the nation went to vote yesterday, and today we know who is the Prime Minister!

Wow... that was hard work!!

What have our friends from across the pond got to say about that then?! Laughing

We are glad we kicked your arses a few hundred years ago.

No, really, what does it tell you that they can count all those votes so quickly. I dont care HOW technologically advanced you may be, there just seems to be too much room for error in those results. Maybe they just let you "think" you voted... Razz

When I was at school, in the last year of sixth form they selected pupils for special privilges and duties. The system was that those interested put their names down, then the whole year votes for them, then the teachers post a list of people 'elected'.
One year by accident they posted the list before the voting!! I didn't care that the teachers just chose who they wanted, but I was pissed off that they satisfied their sick curiosity with that little popularity contest, to which they were the only ones privvy to the result. They even recorded who voted for who, but claimed it was anonymous because the teachers didn't publish the results of the voting.

Anyway the election result might not work out so badly if the PM does the only honorable thing remaining and steps down soon. With the diminished majority it might not feel so despotic. I am more optimistic than before the election.

You guys just don't understand the process. You left out a couple of steps.

First, you have to monkey with the voters, so you're sure those who don't support you can't vote. Then you need a couple of family members in high places to deliver phony results. Then you need a court that can overrule the popular vote. Then you choose the guy who actually lost. Then you have to start a couple of wars.

That's how we do it over here. It takes it little longer, but it's a lot more exciting.

English irony is still so misunderstood!
