MC 21 Electric Problem

Sun Nov 24, 2013 12:07 pm » Post: #1 » Download Post

Hello yesterday i try to start my mc 21 without success.
first i unscrew the spark plugs earth them to the frame to see the spark but there was no spark on both spark plugs. Then I clean the connectors of the two coils and use multimeter to see the ohms

both coils have
0.03 ohm in low tension LT
7.78 ohm in high tension HT

also i check the battery voltage multimeter shows 12.1 voltage when ignition key is OF and kill switch OF
then i turn the ignition key ON and the voltage was down to 10 V and when i press the kill switch to RUN the Voltage was 0 what should i do?

Sorry for my bad english i am from Bulgaria. Thanks for any help

Hi George,

Kvo stava ? LOL

That's about as far as my Bulgarian goes...

Sounds like your battery is the problem. Try another or new one.

If the other/new one gives the same problem after a day or two then check your charging system.

Cheers,
Mario

Firstly charge the battery overnight and try again to start it.

If that doesn't work, try to push start the bike. This often works as you will turn the engine over many more times than kick starting.

If you manage to get it running, let the engine warm up and check the voltage across the battery again. It should be about 14v when the revs are above 2000.

Hi George;

I have done this excersice a month back. Follow Daves advice charge the battery and try again. Instead of a push start I put the drill on flywheel and spin the engine over. If you have no spark check the pick up wires for any short. My pickups tested fine but the bottom pick up was shorting out against the engine cases so I had no spark.

Best of Luck

Edd

Hello friends i am gonna get a new battery theese days and also i will check the pulse coils. While i waiting for the battery i think to hook up a 12V DC from my power supply to red (+) and green (-) cable and to try to get a spark.
