Hi, Well after a few years I've managed to get an NSR, I believe it's an SE, but think it might be a hybrid, so a few questions, I've looked on the parts manual, and the frame doesn't appear to be in the correct range, and the subframe colour code isn't for black either? Any help with the model or originality of the bike?
Frame MC21 1016.... subframe code is NH 196 K
Engine MC16 1279....
Barrels have R2L, and head has KV3L stamped/cast on them.
I realise these bike are a few years old and parts can be swapped, but it's got the 'proper forks, shock, and the dry clutch. A few pics
Must say thanks to a few people, for advice and help with some PM's I've sent in the past (watfordhorn/Jonnymac/fontyyy)
I must say, I reckon that's the longest I've ever seen anyone join the forum and then hold out waiting for a bike. It's not like you visit infrequently either! I hope it all works out well.
As for it's originality, it all looks on the surface to be pretty good, except that it's obviously had a bit of an intimate relationship with the tarmac at some point. As you've probably already guessed, NH196 is the code for a white base, so the subframe has been swapped out, but with the correct [black] adjustable forks, dry clutch, and rear shock, I reckon it's as good as it needs to be, and wouldn't be too concerned. _________________ Andy.

Thanks, yes never one to jump in too quickly log on here nearly every day, and in hindsight, I should have bought Andyo's but never quite had funds at the time.
I thought NSR's were plentiful when I started looking, but prices are going up quickly, so thought I need to get one now, and then decide what to do, believe this has been on track at some point, but it's quite clean engine wise, (15,000Klm) got to get it registered first, and then restored as required.
Glad someone responded, has made me feel better regarding what it appears to be and hopefully I can recreate the colourscheme somehow.....
What stood out the most, was the unbutchered rear fender!
I'd pull the crank on any bike that old now, just to be sure, because if [heaven forbid] it was to let go, it can cause thousands in damage... which we've seen more than a few times recently! For the sake of some gaskets and seals, it's better to be sure. I wouldn't trust the mileage shown on anything!
It's not going to take much to get that '21 looking smart and running well. I'm sure you'll be pleased with the end result. _________________ Andy.
