Anyone has experience with curved reeds?

Thu Jun 12, 2014 9:59 am » Post: #1 » Download Post

When disassembling the reed valves of my MC28 (46.000 km), I noticed that one of the four triples was not flat but slightly curved. You could see it when it was still mounted because there was a gap between the reed tips and the valve body.
I thought that maybe they "age" and therefore bought 4 new triples from Honda.

At least one of the triples I received is also slightly curved and it will definitely not seal "by itself" (i.e. without pressure from the crankcase).

Does anyone have experience with curved reeds? Do they nevertheless work satisfyingly? Should I insist on 100% flat reeds?

Thanks!

Edit: All four triples are curved leaving a gap of up to 0.5 mm at the reed tip. Honda quality problem?
