On taking this gear assembly off, one of the bolts has sheared off in the crank case. I think the previous rebuild must have emptied a tube of thread lock in there. Anyway when I put it all back together are the other 2 bolts sufficient to hold it all in place ?
Wasn't sure what it actually was as it's called the oil/water pump drive gear in the rebuild instructions
http://www.nsr-world.com/workshop/rebuild/rebuild-2.php
and the pump missions oil in the parts workshop/parts manual, so thanx for clearing that up
My next question is can you (Andy) or anyone drill the bolt out without ruining the cases ?
Highly likely we can get the remains of the bolt out, but it will of course entail at the very least, a transmission strip. You don't want to run the risk of any debris getting lost internally.
It's most likely that you can't just simply drill it out. It's too small, and if you slip, or even don't run down the centre of the bolt, you'll ruin the cases. The cases will probably need to be mounted in the mill, to hold them securely. _________________ Andy.
