mc16 motor in a mc21

Thu May 12, 2005 7:18 am » Post: #1 » Download Post

hey guy

i have a mc21 chassis and i am putting a mc 16 motor in coz i already have tho motor and cant find a mc21 motor.

it basicly fits in but how will i make sure it is centered and balanced weight wise in the bike so the bike doest become uneven when riding?

will i be able to change cyclinders to later model ones? any benifits?

will i be able to put some performace pipes on it along with reeds and airbox mod?

what will i do with the GPS coz the mc16 doesnt have one?

any other tips are welcome.

thanks for any help
mike

Can you not measure the width of the cases at the mounting points? I think the rear is the same as the later models, but if it's narrower I'd mount it WITHOUT spacers, sling the back wheel in nice and square and line it all up via the chain. You can then measure the gaps for the spacers.

I'd splice the GPS so all gears go to the 3rd gear ignition map. You may loose a fraction in 1st and 2nd, but if you can notice it then you should be riding GP's!

Cylinders should swap at a later date. Never tried swapping MC21 with MC16 cylinders before, but I have swapped MC21 with MC18 and that works well.

My MC21 Ethos pipes fitted the MC18 barrel without any problems.

I think that just about covers it!

If the rear mounting is indeed the same width, then you are laughing! You'll just need to make up the new spacers for the front.

I believe someone said recently the front mounts are solid on the MC16? I think you may need to make up some sleeves for the front mounts on the MC21 frame.

StephenRC45 has just bought some MC16 barrels to experiment with so we're going to see what sort of power is available from them.
