18mm gudgeon pins in bored out little ends

Thu Oct 09, 2014 1:51 pm » Post: #1 » Download Post

Hello folks

My mc18 r5k crank has failed so I am considering fitting a modified mc28 bottom end into my mc18 r5k.

The mc28 bottom end was supposedly rebuilt with modified con rods by SEP in Kegworth, I am told that the bottom end was going to be used for a 300cc big bore race engine so SEP have bored out the con rod little ends with the intention of using 18mm Yamaha gudgeon pins and pistons up to 66mm in diameter.

I would rather not have the mc28 crank split and rebuilt with my used mc18 rods, so can anyone tell me if there are little end bearings available that will suit the bored out con rod while allowing me to retain and use my standard mc18 r5k pistons and pins ?

Any opinions or advice will be greatly appreciated.

Cheers

Andy burton
