Recent Purchase - Pentax track bike

Fri Feb 20, 2015 4:13 pm » Post: #1 » Download Post

Having sold my RS250 I couldnt be without a 250 two stroke track bike (the RS was getting too valuable for the amount I used it), I have picked up this nice little MC21 SP, now my problem is its only done 10k miles and is all original and in really good condition, so I am a little apprehensive about stripping it down and turning it into a track bike.....it just seems a little wrong. Should such an original SP 25 year old bike be stripped and turned into a track bike???

My plans are.....strip the fairings and store away for safe keeping, wire splice it, tyga pipes and air box mod......if not I may just go back to using my old faithful MC28 - fit a 030 card and stick it on the track.

Looks in lovely condition, use it just don't crash it.
I really like the Pentax colour scheme.
Enjoy.

Haha! The secret's finally out, eh?! Smile

Not really for me to comment on the track it/don't track it part, but knowing how you like a good dust up on track with some of the guy at Donny/Brands, I think you already know the answer! Wink

I'd say chuck some race fibre on it (in Pentax) too, as unbroken OEM bodywork is very difficult to find now, as you know. I'll even cut you some big Pentax logos to go where they're missing on the fairings, if you want them! Smile

I think your right, I might not get to have as much fun though as it will be a fair bit slower than what I have been used to.

Race bodywork or old scruffy stuff and race pipes are now required.....along with some sticky tyres Smile.

Oh yes you'll have as much fun Leigh, read Charles's post in yuris mc28 under members builds, you may not be as fast down the straights, but you'll have as much fun, why do you think i do more sessions on my mc21 than on my rs250.

That's a lovely bike, really very nice. I'm not sure I'd track it. Should the worst happen, amongst the many things that the RS does exceptionally well, I'd include crashing. They do crash remarkably well. I'm not sure you could say that about the NSR.

If you do track it, I'm sure you'll have loads of fun. You'll probably even feel like you're in charge most of the time, which is an unusual feeling with the RS... Rolling Eyes
