NSR250 Petcock on Auction Sites?

Mon Apr 14, 2014 1:37 pm » Post: #1 » Download Post

Just a word of warning. There are many sellers offering NSR250 Petcocks/Fuel Taps on some of the auction sites.

These petcocks will technically work, but are not direct replacements. The petcocks being advertised are most likely from an early/mid 90's CBR900RR (Also called Fire Blade in the UK).

Why do I say they will "technically" work? Because they will screw onto the NSR Fuel tank and the fuel flow rate is the same as the NSR250. However, the reserve tube and the filter are longer (you can pull these and use your old NSR filter/reserve tube) then the NSR250. Also, where the fuel line connects comes out of the petcock at a different position and angle then the NSR250 fuel petcock. If you are running without an airbox, this is fine, otherwise, the fuel line will end up not get around the airbox and make mounting angle very difficult.

I too was duped by the cheap ones...its now somewhere in my parts bin. I ended up using just the o ring. My stock one just doesnt shut off very good. If you find a source, count me in for one. I think oem ones might still be available.

A Petcock off a CBR900 (1993) believe will fit as well...just swap the Reserve tube from the original.
Original NSR Petcocks are available as well
