If you do a little research, you can find one for less than half the price of that

I think we have 2 new cranks in stock... I'll need to check on Monday with the parts department.

Hi Andy,

What would the price of a new crank be? Otherwise, do you have rebuilt units on the shelf ready to ship? If so what parts are replaced?
Thanks.

Current price on the Honda system is £510.26. (+ S&H)

We don't have any MC21/28 rebuilt cranks on the shelf at the moment. We currently have an '88 and an '89 for rebuild though. The '88 will be built with a brand new centre seal sent to us for evaluation by T2 in Japan.

Has that price been reduced by Honda. I'm sure they were over £1000 (for a new crank) a couple of years ago

Is the 88 crank an R2J/4J and the 89 an R5K/6K ? If so that is good news

Yes, Honda have pretty much halved the price!

Yes, the '88 is an R2/4J, and the '89 is R5/6K.

We're looking to build a relationship with T2 this year, to start importing their jet kits and other products currently in development.

Pleased to hear that some efforts are being made to keep the early models alive.

Any feedback on whether this centre seal is doing its job properly?

The seal only arrived yesterday, but if I had to stick my neck on the line, I would say it certainly looks OEM quality.

We did actually question Honda UK about this, as they discontinued MC28 cranks last year, sold the remaining stock at over £1100, and have just put them back into production less than a year later, and literally halved the price!

Luckily we didn't buy any stock in at the old price, we just supplied them on demand, but we know a few dealers that this will have hurt, who will be losing a considerable amount selling at the updated price!

The upside though, according to the boss of DogFight, Honda have acknowledged the slump in new bike sales, and the resurgence of models such as the NSR250, and will be putting various parts back in to production. No idea which parts specifically though.

Be good to see all the top end rebuild parts drop back to a reasonable price.
