Hello all, so about 7 weeks ago I was driving my CBR 400 and I noticed the fairings were a bit taty. I heard about cheap fairings from china so I said id give them a go. I went onto AliExpress and bought Repsol fairings from a store called 'Shopping2cheap'. They cost about 389 US Dollars and the shipping was free. So about 7 weeks later they finally came. I had to pay roughly 50 Euro customs duty so I would advise you to factor this into the price aswell.
Here's the box they came in:
It was a good thick sturdy box and the fairings were very well wrapped. I filled 2 tubs with all the wrapping.
Below is a few pictures of the fairings after I unwrapped them:
There was also Heatshield, a tank sticker and a windscreen supplied with the kit.
I went out to shed and started to disassemble the old fairings, Heres what the bike looks like:
The flash on the camera makes them look more shiney than they actually are. So I stripped the fairings off, and this is what it looks like now:
Now time to start putting on the new pieces it took me about 4 hours to do the whole job from start to finish (including a few tea breaks). Now to keep you from waiting any longer here's the final product:
So if you were to ask me out of 10 what would I score them I would have to say an 8 out of 10. The paint looks good but whos to say it wont orange peel or fade over time? They feel thick and study. I was half expecting paper thin flimsy pieces of plastic but I must say they are decent. Now onto the dreded "FITMENT ISSUES" everybody hears about when we hear the name chinese fairings. Straight off the bat I am going to say YES, there was fitment issues. BUT these were very minor and could easily be sorted. The Indicators didnt exactly fit in properly but I managed to jimmy them in. The bottom two bolts on the windscreen didnt line up but they probably were only out by 4mm and could have been forced in but I didnt want to take that chance. Finally the rear fairings, the middle bolt holes were about 3-5mm off but I just pushed them into place and stuck the bolt through them. All very minor issues in my mind, the rest went together like a dream. So would I recommend them you ask??? Yes and No. If you want to have a fresh look for your bike such as change to Rothmans colours or Repsol and so on then yes I would say go for it. You just cannot argue with the price. But as my father says time and time again, "you get what you pay for". So when buying them dont expect OEM quality because you will be let down. If you are restoring a bike and want everything 100% perfect like it came off the showroom floor then I would say No do not buy these fairings. They do have fitment issues and not all panels line up 100% correctly. All in all I personally am very happy with them and I would recommend them for a daily driver. These fairings are on my NC23 Tri-Arm CBR 400, I know its an NSR forum but I hope this review is helpful to you and if you want more information just drop me a PM I would be more than happy to help a fellow biker peace out and have a safe ride.
I'm moving this to the Open Discussion area, Simon, as I keep each discussion area strictly on topic.
Feel free to post anything in the Open Discussion, from F1 to flower arranging, and anything in between! However, if you have anything specific to the NC23 you'd like to post, that too can go in its own particular (but of course, underused) are here: Road bikes: Grey bikes _________________ Andy.
