New to the site and looking at buying an NSR250 MC18 SP. Looking at a 88 model in Rothmans colours - takes me right back to those heady days of 250 and 500 GP's
Was this model released in these colours or is it likely to be replacement bodywork and paint/decals?
UK price for these seems quite varied at the moment, any tips on what to look for much appreciated.
Yes they did produce a mc18 sp in rothmans colours, but it is the early model and the only thing that marks it out as an sp is the magtek wheeels and rothmans paint, unlike all the other sp's that have dry clutches and adj: suspension, quite rare but not very desireable, imo, if you realy want a mc18, sp, it might be better to wait and try for an r6k terra version, last of the 18's and a much better looking bike, imo. _________________ Proud Father of , 05 ktm 400exc supermoto 2018 honda crf rx supermoto

Many thanks for the info' - I'm new to the collecting thing, I've found a Terra version, just about to message the seller
Keep a careful eye out for the bodywork. Seen a lot of Terras for sale at dealers with dream machine paint jobs over the last few years.
Originality is everything on these bikes and I would take the original bodywork with some honest wear and tear over any a shiny New paint job every day of the week.
Its quite easy to spot the differences if you know what you are looking for. A couple of obvious differences are the green number boards are decals on the originals and not painted, the silver stripes are actually white stripe decals stuck over a silver painted area if that makes sense.
If you are unsure there is plenty of knowledge on here so post some pictures up.
