I was going to say mice in the air box 😁
It could be so many things. It might be worth charging the battery, chucking in some new plugs and some fresh fuel before looking for any serious issues.

When my sh*t hgeap wouldn't start they said it was the battery - changed that and it fired a couple of times then died. Wouldn't start and turned out to be the PGM. I now have four of them so never be a problem again. But I have found that if the battery isn't fully charged it's a bastard to start. I'll kick the sh*t out of it for ages too when it hasn't run but once I get it going starts first second kick all the time.

Good luck

How's the bike going now?

Have you had a look at the ignition picks?
