Nothing specific here but what would cause all fork oil dampening to disappear when..
a. Oil seals were good / new
b. All the oil was where it should be
c. internal fork condition was good
d. springs are good / new
I can't nail this one down, on rebuild it's fine. Give it 500 miles and some heavy front braking and the front end goes light, very bouncy and as if no oil is in the forks.
Tear it down and everything looks ok, reuild it and it starts all over again.
No air pressure in the forks either.
Any input is welcome as it's getting frustrating.
Thanks. _________________ These aren't the droids you're looking for.
I would say the front fork oil is being airated. It happens alot to oil in sumps of superbikes (hence sump baffles).
This could be caused by you not bleeding them right and the dampers still having air in them. Once you ride the bike the air is pumped out and the oil level drops.. hence you get little or very light damping after a few miles of road work.
Or your using crap oil and its turning to piss when its getting hot and your damping is going out the window. _________________ If I have to take the carbs off once more...
I'd literally be 'pixxing' past slower bikes then.
I'll be stripping and examining on Wednesday next, just have to see how it goes I guess. If it works out and I can MOT it in time, I'll take it along to the dyno day as it is such a hooligans toy ! _________________ These aren't the droids you're looking for.
