I've got a 1987 MC16. After not riding for a few months, I fired it up to find that the tachometer was misbehaving.
As I rev the engine in neutral or in gear, the needle blips up slightly but much below 500-1000 rpm.
Any ideas what could cause this? I believe the tach is driven not mechanically but by an electric signal. So contacts rusty, kink in cable, what? Bike has been stored inside a dry area, so I'm not sure why this happened.
Any other diagnostic ideas would be appreciated. I'm able to use a multimeter but not really sure what to look for.
