Odd clutch feel

Wed Aug 17, 2016 8:09 pm » Post: #1 » Download Post

I rode my MC18 mongrel for the first time yesterday and the clutch just doesn't feel right, for starters the cable is old and adjusted to be as long as possible at both ends yet i've minimal free play on the lever, then the bitting point is at the very end of the lever travel with a very fine line between engaged and disengaged.
Its been years since a rode a NSR but i feel the bike needs a fair bit of clutch slipping to pull away cleanly as if it has a really long 1st gear, maybe its just me but its doesnt feel right.
The clutch pack is within spec yet i have a thinner metal plate at each end of the pack, the tuning section of the site suggests this is wrong and there should only be a thinner plate at the engine side of the pack. Will replacing a the thinner plate on the outside give me better feel back at the lever and will replacing both thin plates with thicker plates as the guide suggests further improve that?
