Hi Andy
I did consider getting in touch with Paul G because he recommended a really good place for me to get some aquablasting done, but I have not got enough posts to PM him.
Hi RS_BOTT
I am in King's Lynn so the Downham company might be a good option if you have been happy with what they have done for you. I am looking for the goldie yellow coloured plating.
Thanks. Carl.
My apologies Carl, I'll have a word with Charles about that. I thought subbed members could PM regardless of post-count. I'll get that fixed for you. _________________ Andy.

Getting parts plated is the best value for money part of a restoration bar none in my opinion. I normally get mine done through a mate who runs an engineering company and they get sent to whoever he currently uses, I will ask him where he sends them. I do know they vary greatly in quality of the plating as well so it's worth getting a good recommendation.
I would also recommend cleaning the parts on a wire wheel before you get them done, they will come out better. You should be able to get silver, black and gold pasivate finish.

PM sent, I think there's a place in Wisbech that does it as well, Or you could ask Andy (above) unless it's only done for customer rebuilds??
We are happy do parts sent to us, but we do subcontract the plating (locally) ourselves too.
As Paul says, the parts need to be run over thoroughly with a wire wheel to get the best finish, else you just (barely) plate over the corrosion & rust. If parts aren't sent "ready to plate" there would also of course be a labour charge for preparing them.
We can do silver, gold, black, and green.
Carl, you should also be able to PM now. Sorry about that. _________________ Andy.

Thanks Andy for sorting out the PM and for giving me another option regarding the plating.
Thanks RS_BOTT for the PM, I managed to find the company and phone number.
Thanks Paul for looking into that for me, regarding the aqua blasting they made a really good job, I will probably put some pictures on here when I get it back together.
The main problem was with the reed stoppers, they are pitted and had loose bits on them that you really would not want going into the crankcase, a lot of the other bits are just about on the way to going rusty if left much longer, or missing plating , but not too bad at all, I need to have them done never the less.
