carb leakage NSR250 mc21

Wed Mar 29, 2017 11:45 am » Post: #1 » Download Post

guys i have an issue with one of the carbs in the bike. the "X" piece is broken in one of the 4 pipes (i mean one of the 4 arms is broken )...and there is a fuel "discharge" from one of the carbs...at the bottom...i have a video but its quite heavy to attach...

my question is: is the broken X piece the cause of this "fuel over flow discharge"? it looks like the carb gets flooded and the fuel is thrown out from one of the jets...at the bottom.

thanks for your help

As I understand it the x piece and associated pipework is part of the air correction system, which gives a finer adjustment to the air/fuel mixture. I don't know if this would affect the fuel oveflow but in any case it should be an easy fix if only to eliminate that if its not the problem. I would also check for a stuck or badly adjusted float valve, ultimately thats what affects the amount of fuel entering the carb. There are many wiser than me on here, that may be able to give a better answer, but thats were I would start. Good luck!

Mine both overflowed (through the float bowl seal rather than the overflow pipe) and it was fixed by adjusting the float heights.
