Thanks for the info, I had looked into it and found the part no and the ebay one.

I was hoping to get one straight away at a breakers. Does anyone know if an inline filter would upset the carbs.

Hello FIL250, and welcome to NSR-WORLD.

I'm not personally a big fan of inline fuel filters on the NSR, but any filter is better than no filter, I guess!

I strongly suggest keeping a very close eye on the spark plug colour to ensure you're not going lean at high RPM if you fit one.

Thanks for the advice Andy. I was worried about going lean with an inline filter although I have fitted one anyway and will be checking the plugs.

Keep us updated please, as I expect you won't be the last to find a damaged (or missing) in-tank filter in need of replacement, given the age of our bikes.

Well I finally got out on my r5k today after a month of going over the bike, it turned out to be in great condition for its age.

Brake pads all round and fresh fluid, fork oil, seals and dust covers, gearbox oil and coolant, float valves, float bowl seals, gentle polish of float valve seats, float heights set, oil pump bled and set, new chain an sprockets, new tyres, RC valves set, fairing fitted properly with new fasteners and homemade headlight foam, new gear selector spline boss, new exhaust gaskets, new plugs, petcock repair kit fitted, every thing cleaned lubed and polished where appropriate.

The bike is completely stock except wire splice.

The traffic was bad and the rain was closing in so only went out for a short time. But long enough to know it runs absolutley great smooth and claen right through the rev range with good midrange and a screaming top end, although I could only give it a short squirt here and there.

Its the first time I have ridden in 15 years and damn it felt good to be back on a 250, this nsr is fantastic I love it and will keep it forever.

The forks are soft though and it threatened a slapper at one point, will try and get out tomorow and do a plug chop to check the plugs.

I am running an inline filter but dont like it so will stump up for a fuel tank strainer asap.

That's great to hear. The R5/6K is a cracker, but yeah, does like to shake its head a bit sometimes. A set of HRC link plates for the rear suspension helps, as does dropping the yokes down the forks slightly.
