Been lurking on here for a while but have just done a deal on a 89 MC18 RK5. Been a NC owner for years and still have 1.
Knowing i wont be able to resist fettling the NSR what options do i have with regards to swingarms? reason i ask is that i have a set of RVF fitment PVM's, is the MC28 swingarm possible? or even the RVF?
28 should fit without too much messing, make sure you get the 28 linkage with the swing arm as the 18 one won't fit.
rvf and nc30 swingarms have an offset shock tunnel so won't fit the 18 without loads of cutting and welding.
nc24 swing arm is ok. on the one i've got i've used nc24 swing arm with nc30 hub and mc28 linkage. it a bit pick and mix but the nc24 swingarm was ony £20.
hope some of this helps
Cheers guys, the 24 arm sounds a good option, does the 30 hub fit straight in? What about the shock, i cant seem to find many options for MC18 shocks, or in fact any nsr shocks. Are the stock shocks rebuildable to a decent spec?
Have you got any pics of your NSR, be good the see how it looks
mines got a cbr600 shock on it but which one i don't know as it was on there when i got it!
havent fitted the swing arm yet as i need to send the hub off to be re-hardened (bearing surface had to be machined a little to fit the 24 swing arm but not much!)and i've had bugger all time ! always the same! lol
i'll pull my finger out , and get it sorted!
I'd personally want to keep an '18 looking like an '18 and not fit a single sider. '18's may be a little dated but set up right they go and handle very well. _________________ If I have to take the carbs off once more...
I must get out on mine (the mc18) more. Bloody love the thing. It needs a little more tlc though if I'm going up against Andy this summer on the roads.

After reading through the info on the forum i agree, keep it MC18.
The PVM's i'll keep for my NC, im guessing RS250 wheels dont come up often?
Paul, No im not tracking this one, i have the NC for track duties. I never did get round to riding that RGV i swaped the lucky strike fairings with you. you still got the RGV?
Is the MC18's shock worth rebuilding? or swap it out for something else?

Just been viewing pics of your 18, very nice stephen. yours is the one with the dry clutch yes? is it a straight swap?
i seem to have sorted my running rich issues on my 18.
drilled some more holes in my air box lid!! pulls alot harder and the plugs look alot healthier! bloody loud tho!! any way to silence the holes???

Alright mate yeah still got the RGV although I blew it up at Cadwell last year, suprising really considering the rgv's are fairly reliable.. Anyway going to fix it up and sell it, kinda committed to this nsr now for racing so all the funds are going on that.
I put a fireblade shock on mine, off a cbr954 or something, certainly works well enough for my lack of talent! lots of other stuff fits and the suspension is quite tuneable by making different linkage plates. RS wheels do come up in the right places but magteks are often more sourceable! _________________ More **** two strokes than you can shake a **** stick at.
The stock shock isn't bad but look out for a '18 SP one with the remote.
The dry clutch can be fitted as long as you get the gear box, clutch cover and crank shaft primary gear. _________________ If I have to take the carbs off once more...
