RC valve service support_Tech description

Hi Guys

I've had a look through the tuning and workshop areas but at the moment I have not been able to find a section dedicated to the disassembly, cleaning and reassembly of the RC valve...does such a thing exist, can anyone point me towards it?

Cheers
Max

Once you pull them out, disassembly will be very obvious... there are only 3 main components, and the only way to extract them is to disassemble them! Laughing

"Reassembly is the opposite of disassembly", as they say! Wink

The only thing you need to take note of is the orientation of the shaft, as there are two flats on the end to locate the cable pulley. It's possible to press the shaft back in 90 degrees out of alignment, which will be obvious when you go to fit the pulley.

You can clean the RC Valve flaps with a wire wheel/brush without fear of damaging them. Same goes for the hardened square section of the shaft, but be careful on the round section as it's softer, and damage there from leaning enthusiastically on the wire wheel could cause the oil seal to leak, or even worse allow the shaft to "wobble" in its housing.

The special E-clips (part 13) that retain the shafts are usually quite distorted when the shafts are extracted, but can be straightened and used again if necessary, however they're still readily available from Honda and inexpensive. Always replace the oil seals.

NOTE: The RC Valve shaft nuts are left hand thread.

Thanks Andy! I was particularly worried about the cleaning process of the RC shaft....Exactly what I was looking for!
