Mon Jul 25, 2005 12:51 pm » Post: #1 » Download Post

Hi, I'm in the process of re-building my engine, (MC16) and I'm not sure how to remove the powervalve linkage (actuating arm) I don't want to break anything, so any help is appreciated! Thanks, Curtis

there easy, just remove the nut(reverse thread)so turn it clockwise to take it off.take note of the washers(in which order they are fitted).the power valve shaft just pulls out.just make sure the cylinders are off before you pull the shaft.to stop them falling into the engine.look on workshop page,im sure it shows you how on there.

Very Happy Thanks for the help, I actually figured it out a couple of minutes after I posted the question. I noticed that one of my power valve cables is bad, Does anyone sell replacements? Thanks again, Curtis

Hi I have turned the nut the wrong way and now it just rotates in the hole. How do I fix it?

Unfortunately, with great difficulty, as you will have stripped the thread.

You will need to remove the cables, undo the backplate, pull the whole assembly (including the cable holder/backplate), and carefully try to take a Dremel to the nut until you can remove it.

There isn't anything actually stopping the assembly being withdrawn once the bolts securing the cable holder are undone. There's an E-clip behind the oil seal, but it's not a retaining clip.

It's best to pull the whole assembly, as you will have greater access with the Dremel head, and can more easily manipulate the backplate out of the way.

Welcome to NSR-WORLD, by the way! Wink
