Hi guys, i did a search and found lots of mention about different types of USD forks fitted to the mc21/mc28. I have lying around a brand new set of 2005 cbr600rr forks, im just toying with the idea of fitting them to the mc21 chassis. Has anyone actually done it?
I want to try fit the original nsr wheel so im keen to use triple clamps of similar spacing to the nsr? I fitted 05 ZX6R forks to my RGV which was a slip out slip in affair as the triples were the same dimensions. The NSR is a different story though. Im not sure to use original 600 clamps or get something made?

I've also done a fair bit of research on this. It appears that the R6, (around 2005) has almost the same steering geometry as the NSR. Silikesguinnes will be able to add better info, as he's fitted the R6 front end to his 21.

What are the diameters of the CBR forks where the triple clamps hold them? Have you considered the Tyga RVF/NSR conversion triple clamps?

Here's various bits of info that I've cut and pasted from various forums that might help you:




A lot of people press the stem out of the NSR yokes and into the yokes they're intending to use with whatever front end they have... That is absolutely fine, IF the new yokes have an offset of 35mm...

The NSR yokes have a pretty large offset at 35mm... For instance, Harris' adjustable offset yokes only have a range of 24-34mm... The offset is the primary way that the trail is determined and even a very small change can have a large impact on increasing or decreasing the trail. The conversion I've just done with the ZX6rr forks wouldn't have been possible with their yokes. The offset was 20mm... This would have increased trail from 87mm standard to 98mm. Doesn't sound much, but it would sure slow down your sweet handling NSR.

As Andy points out, it's not quite as simple as just swapping it all over, IF you want to do it properly.

You CAN partially overcome the increased trail, by reducing your rake, (increasing rear ride height, rasing the forks trhough the top yoke), but it's a comprimise.

If you measure your offset (ooer), it is still 35mm. I don't know what the RVF offset is (perhaps fontyy can help) but the Jha yokes keep everything the same as the NSR. The RVF forks are also the same length from the top face to the centre of the wheel spindle as the NSR - 710mm.

The stock NSR has a fork offset of 35mm. The RVF400 is 35.5mm.

The RVF fork diameters are 52mm on the lower clamp and 50mm on the top clamp.

We are slowly increasing our range of triples and other products, but it's not a quick process when we only have one CNC machine and a mere 24 hours in the day!

03/04 ZX636 uppper fork – 50mm
RGV is 50mm top and 52mm bottom.
I believe the ZX-10R front end could work just as well as anything else, the only thing I haven't determined is the fork spacing. I suspect that it may be 214mm, if it is then it could be the best Frankenviffer swap going, as it would literally bolt straight in using CBR/SP1 tripleclamps.

For reference, the R1 forks are spaced 210mm apart, which necessitates spacers to make it all work.
2007 GSXR1000 fork offset 28mm, from 30.
I put '05 R6 inverted forks in my 350 and the offset in those is 35mm, not sure if '06 is the same though. yes they are the same, 05-06 I have the complete front end as well Gus, If yours are '06 can you confirm th

i only have the forks. the clamps would be good as i could compare offset etc.

top clamp = 48mm
bottom clamp = 53mm

anyone know of a set of clamps that share those?

Looking at the woodcraft clipon page it seems only the 05/06 cbr600rr, K5/K6 gsxr600 and 750 have a 48mm top clamp. I can see from pics on the net that the original cbr top clamp has a set in it down to the forks. explains why they are so short?

i think a lot of the yokes now seem to be univeral fitment,my r6 are the same measurments as a set of fireblade forks for example.i know that as i measured mine up for tom,i think the zx10r are also the same,as my harris clipons came off a zx10r race bike,i think they are 50mm

I have a cbr954 forks and rc51 front wheel that i'm planning to install.

I've got a set of 06 CBR600RR forks and clamps all set and ready to go into my NSR. I need to clear a few other things out of the shed first before that goes in.

nxrsr - keep me posted, im interested how the stock cbr600rr clamps fit up? ie just a bearing change or a machining job?

has anybody completed the swap?? May be in a position to do it if it isnt an uber cluster F***!!

have a look at my project mate,it uses r6 radials but the same sort of thing to fit,uses r6 stem with some spacers and klx head race bearings in there i think they are

i wondered who would be first in my defence i couldnt find any cbr radials in black,they were all gold and the bike mines a replica of runs black forks and i wanted a good replica,oh and the r6 forks and yokes were really,really cheap which may have swung it

I got the forks and calipers but need to try find a set of cbr600rr clamps to take some measurements. I have seen a CBR400RR on the tyga website which looks to use standard 600RR clamps.

I do know that the NSR headstock stem is longer than the nc30 and cbr400rr. Either way the best situation would be to press the nsr stem into CBR600 clamps. the top clamp has to be set down to the forktops as the the originas do or they will be too short. Even better if the 600 stem is the same length.

It wasn't a straight forward swap, so we made a custom steering shaft with a couple mods here and there to line things up. As mentioned earlier, we wanted to keep the front wheel so this took some turning of bushes and spacers to make everything line up. We then had to find a pair of rotors to match the wheel with the forks and calipers and as we had a pair of Honda NR750 ones sitting there doing nothing, they slotted in perfectly.

I put a set of 2006 CBR600RR forks on my MC18. The steering stem is almost the same as the NSR one. I needed to cut the threads that hold the top bearing a little farther down the shaft. Maybe you could put a spacer in there.

Mine has the NSR front wheel on it. I made bushings to adapt the NSR axle, the CBR axle is bigger. I also made new triple clamps that are the same spacing as the NSR ones. This was part of a big project and I need to finish some other things before I ride the bike.
