MC18 water outlet

Fri Apr 29, 2022 4:10 am » Post: #1 » Download Post

I just found my MC18 water outlet broke. It has a big hole in it. I’m not sure if it’s called water outlet but it connects the water pump with the 2 cylinder heads. I attached a picture in this post. Now my technician just put some cohesive on it so it might be fine but i don’t feel safe at all.

Anyone knows where to get one now? Thank you!

There's a used one on eBay https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/313972555797?hash=item491a390015:g:MfgAAOSwrUxiZybb

Thank you RobH! Just ordered! Thankfully I can still find one.

Interestingly the seller doesn't ship to the US so I had it shipped to Canada.

Just a side note: I'd strongly recommend against using the bike with that "repair".

Hi Andy,

What repair? Are you talking about the item that RobH posted?

No, I mean with your current repaired part. I wouldn't trust any kind of "epoxied" repair on the cooling system. I've seen leaks destroy a motor faster than you can grab the clutch.

I see. But my water outlet has a big leak and if I don't replace it then the bike cannot work. Do I have any other way around? I've also ordered a fan with a switch I wish that would help.

I think what Andy is trying to tell you, is, DONT use the bike with the repair that your technician has done. Just to be on the safe side.

I'd honestly just wait for the new (used) part to arrive. Epoxy is notorious for failing in cooling system repairs. The hot coolant seeps between the base material and the epoxy and the pressure blows it out. You may be lucky, but it you're not, at best you'll likely seize a piston, but worse case scenario is a totalled motor and you laying in a ditch at the side of the road.

I speak from experience.

Thanks Andy! The part would come in a month because it's from the UK and I live in North America, but I guess I would wait then:)

I don't understand why it would take more than a few days. I sent a brake line kit to Florida recently and it took 4 days to arrive.

Update: finally received the water outlet from the UK. Now everything works. I noticed more smoke coming out from the pipes. I guess some part of the bike was leaking and we just fixed it.

It takes long because the part comes from the UK so shipping took almost a month.

Glad it's all fixed. Still can't understand why shipping took so long though.
