Fuel tap hits frame

Wed Jul 23, 2025 10:21 am » Post: #1 » Download Post

Hey all,

Fuel tap has always had an issue with being close and hitting the frame, but I just installed a new genuine fuel tap, and it hits really badly. I tried clocking the assembly in the tank more than a few times to get it in to the 'sweet spot' but cannot seem to - it just hits the frame especially when in "OFF" position. If I move it to aim further towards the rear of the bike it collides with the stock airbox and I cannot get the tank on. I am not sure if there is a trick to this? Or do I perhaps have the wrong plastic fuel extension from owners previous?

I saw TYGA have a 3D printed "shorty" fuel tap plastic bit, would this be a solution? Thanks!

Can you post a few pics. It might help folks get a better idea. Its definitely a tight fit, but should not be hitting. Maybe a pic of underside of tank as well.

Have you got the tank rubbers/ spacers in position? I had this when I changed tanks over and I needed to rotate the tap backwards to get the right amount of clearance, it’s a bit trial and error.

Shall try to get some pics up later on today...

I don't remember ever seeing any rubbers, Zeus. Are they not obvious? I shall take a look for them, possibly they got lost by a previous owner... just looking at the parts fiche and am guessing we are looking for 74105-KV3-700 Molding Tank front (14 on fiche) and/or 17512-MN8-000 Rubber, tank side (8 on fiche). I don't know if I have those or not, need to take a close inspection when I am with the bike. I am certain 17245-107-010 Rubber (7 on fiche) is there.

I wonder if these rubbers are obtainable easily if they are missing?

Yes it’s the side rubbers I was referring to (17512-MN8-000) they centre the tank at the right height but easily drop off when removing the tank and get lost. They are still available.

Good to know Zeus. From where are they available? I am guessing it may share a part number with a domestic Honda, so I shall try giving the local Honda dealer a call tomorrow.

My other question, is how to locate where they are supposed to sit on the tank?
