Ive got the 300cc kit and an rvf400 front end on my 21. I'm worried about how close the lower spark plug gets to the front tyre when the fork is compressed. Has anyone had issues with clearance; under heavey braking for example? I've got the standard nsr spark plugs in (i found the standard nsr150 plugs were far longer and so, even worse for clearance).
Thanks for your help in advance _________________ After years of moaning about immigrants now i am one...
I've yet to see anyone actually hit the plug with the tyre, on the 300 kit. I've run shorty R5300's through to BR9ES's and I haven't managed it yet. The main concern (it would seem) with the stock to short plug conversion is bodywork clearance. The short plugs do also offer better high rpm running, but for $30+ they bl**dy well ought to!
Please, if someone has had issues with the plug being hit by the tyre then i need to know.
You shouldn't be using NSR150 plugs anyway, but if there's a clearance problem then I want to be aware.
dont mean to cut in, but I'll be after a 300cc kit soon, once I've saved my pennies, Are the barrel heads taller?? I thought it's just the bore that is bigger, or is it because HERMITT is using diffrent plugs/forks he has that issue?? And nothing to do with the kit, I thought it was bored stock heads and barrels, Oh, by the way, Where are TYGA, are they USA based?
honda make an NSR150, i beleive they use the barrels from that, and Tyga are based in the beutiful country of Thailand....17 months to go... _________________ MC21SP - Roth-tax

The tyga 300cc kit uses modified nsr150 barrels and heads. Pistons, rings, circlips, radiator hose etc etc are all supplied so the kit just bolts on in place of the original parts. Where the spark plug comes out of the standard nsr lower head on an angle, it comes straight out the centre of the nsr150 head. I just needed reassuring because i thought the rvf parts ive fitted had brought the wheel too close. That said, alot of other owners have a set up like mine, Maxim is one guy who comes to mind, and ive never heard of any worries. I'm just being paranoid.....
Tyga are located in Thailand _________________ After years of moaning about immigrants now i am one...

I didn't use the standard RVF yokes. I think the RVF offset is a little less than stock NSR, so it would bring the wheel closer to the plug, but only by millimeters.
I can't see there being a problem with any set up so long as you keep to around 710mm for your top yoke to wheel spindle centre measurement. _________________ NSR300R - Why did i ever have a 250...
That's a shabby excuse Monkey! I was only going to say you couldn't be in a better place to have an NSR until I read Matt's post!
If all else fails, get a 150!
BTW, I'll be out to learn to dive once you're there! I was considering learning on my next visit, but I doubt I'd have time. See you in 2007 then!! _________________ Andy.
