crankshaft and big-end bearings question?

Mon Aug 15, 2005 5:32 pm » Post: #1 » Download Post

Is the crank supposed to be split to remove the connecting rod, how do you remove it? It looks like there is no separation for the bearings? Is the connecting rod one piece with the bearings on it? What is the standard or stock size of the journal? Where there under-sized big end roller bearings ever made? What is the maximum the journal can be grinded. It's an mc18 model. Thanks.

Honda say that you cannot rebuild the crank on the NSR.
a guy on this site can suppy main bearings, but no one does big ends. a few of the guys in the states have had cranks rebuilt, do a forum search and you may find some info.

I ve had my mc21 crank rebuilted recently with new bearings and with no problems. It is really good balanced, better than before i could say.Anyway you will have to split the crank to remove the rod.No the connecting rod isn't one piece with the bearings and lastly no company has ever made undersized big end roller bearings for the NSR.You can get more info on the tech place here on NSR world.
