Questions from Spain: 33bhp restrictor and homologation

Tue Nov 08, 2005 7:05 pm » Post: #1 » Download Post

Hi every NSR lover:

I'm Guille, from Spain. I'm a nsr250 lover, and since I always dreamed to get one, I decided to import one to here, Spain, from the UK.

I've some troubles about the import trade.

I need to know if all the NSR 250 of the UK have individual homologation or general homologation.

And in other side, I need to buy one bike restricted for my girl, because she is on her two first years of license. I want to get one nsr restricted. In Spain, we need to buy a restrictor kit from the official dealer, and we need to have the allow of the Spanish importer. Since NSR wasn't imported to Spain, and there is no kit here, I can't restrict it here.

How restrictors and homologation of the new power output works in the UK? there are any kit for the NSR250 to restrict the power to 33bhp / 0,16kw/kg? costing?

I read that, in UK, you can go to any mechanic, who puts in your bike a restrictor plate, and documents about it, but waht about the homologation papers of the bike? I need to take the bike with that papers with 33bhp on the power output figure... I beg I can do it... Rolling Eyes Embarassed

best regards, and thank you for your replys!!
Guille.

Can't help with any of the registration/homologation stuff, but if you want low power then just pull one of the spark plug caps off when they dyno it! Wink

Hi NSR lovers!

Well, after huge search and investigation I find some important info, I will explain it for those who can find it interesting:

Restrictor kits:

I find that FI International sells restrictor kits for MC21 and older versions of the NSR. I can't find (yet) any restrictor kit for the MC28. 200 pounds is the costing, and you should put it on a certified FI Internaional workshop. Then, they will give you a certificate, that allow you to use the bike if you are in your two first years of license (33bhp and/or 0,16 kw/kg)

About importing:

After long talks with Honda Spain, and so on, I find that if the bike hasn't recived an EU Homolgoation form, If I import it, I will need to hgomologate on Spain.

This is very extrange, since, if you import a car, you only need to use the MOT homologation of the UK, but bikes are different.

I wish you can help me, saying what type of MOT certified have your NSR's, individual or general? Who imports the bikes from Japan?

Well, regards and thanks about the help and your support.
