I was wondering if a 20% lightened flywheel really gives any feelable improvement.
What are the disadvantages of a lightened flywheel ? _________________ Poul

The trade-off with a lightened flywheel is often a decrease torque. The lighter unit can increase throttle response and also smooth transition from "off or part throttle" to "on throttle" exiting corners. As the NSR will most likely be buzzing at peak RPM most of the time, the loss of torque often really isn't much of an issue.
Unless you go F3, the lightened stock flywheels are really only worth something substantial down the pub, but as always, it's all the little increases that add up!! Lot's of 1/2hp's rapidly add up to a couple of horses! _________________ Andy.
