1989 MC18 Derestriction, Easy question for the Pro's.

Hows everyone doing?. I am trying to derestrict my NSR (1989 MC18). I am following the instructions which are in the tuning section of this page. The question i have is that it says to cut the orange blue wire(which is originally grounded) and attach it to the black white wire so that it recieves 12volts. Well when i used my volt meter to make sure i got the right wires, i found that the orange blue wire indeed is grounded but it didn't appear that the black white wire was recieving 12volts Rolling Eyes .(when i had the key on but not started) Is this right? I was thinking maybe that the black white wire only recieves power when the bike is running or when it is in a certain gear or RPM range. I was going to start it but i would rather not since it is quite cold and i have it all "winterized"(Atlantic Canada eh). I was also wondering if the GPS wire splice is the same for the MC21 and MC18(Wasn't really sure from reading the instructions). Any comments or addvice would be greatly appreciated thanks for your time.

Hello Josh,

The Bk/W wire should produce 12V when the IGN is on and the kill switch is set to RUN. If it does not, then you have a problem.

The GPS splice on the MC18 isn't the same as the MC21... it's doesn't have one! Smile

Full colour wiring diagrams for every model are completed, and will be available in the new Members area when it opens.

Andy,
Thank you very much.......stupid me did not have the kill switch set to run. I am glad i did not try to do the GPS splice, that would have been a great mess. Have a good one.
