mc16/mc18 the same?

hello i reciently purchased a from what i am told is a 1988 nsr250 mc16 and i was wondering if the mc18 is the same, there seems to be more info and or parts avail for the 18 and since i am in a restoration mode i am trying to find out what exactly i have and what will interchange, if you look into model history it says the mc16 is a 1987? so there is confusion here..please help and thanks Smile

Hi! and welcome.
the MC16 and 18 are not the same. a lot of 18/21 bits can be swopped over to fit the 16 though. 16 bits are getting hard to find now, but most parts can be found second hand.
the year of the bike on the log book is not always correct. one of my 16,s is a 1987 the other a 1991. if its got a speedo cable on the front wheel is a 16 if its off the front sprocket its an 18. hope that helps.

i,d love to post some pics but i don't have any, and my cameras stuffed. i think santas bringing me a new one, so who knows. i have bumped up an old post with a pic of it in.
