pgm cdi?

Tue Dec 27, 2005 2:32 am » Post: #1 » Download Post

is it correct for a mc16? a black box that says pgm cdi? is it the same as pgm I, or pgm II i have found so many loose ends on my wiring harness plugs that go no where, lots of elec tape, wires hanging with the end cut off but the bike runs and runs pretty good actually, i really want to clean up this wiring harness preferably replace it i dont have any brake lites either. anybody here know how to blow- up that wiring harness diagram so someone could read it?

PGM CDI is, I believe, MC18R2J/R4J.

thats interesting andy, i think i will wait for more replys, do you know what a mc16 had for a black box? ya see part of the problem with this bike is the potential changes and upgrades that were possibly done to it, the wiring harness has alot of elec tape on it and things (elec items) seem to be relocated or left out all together it doesnt have a stock undertray, it has a makeshift undertray from R-1 but in looking at the used parts on the tyga site the undertray looks to have a provision for the battery mount, this one has the batt zip tied to the upper frame supports and i know this isnt correct. one other thing andy do these carbs have identifying marks on them like wether or not they are a 10 or 20. it turns out that i do have those octagon shaped jugs instead of the round smooth ones like i thought it is possible that alot has been changed here the previouse owner thinks just the forks and the braking sys have been changed an possibly the rear shock but this bike does have a mc18 inst cluster although it doesnt seem to work...thanks, if i am home tomorrow i will strip the body off and lay out a few pic so yall can see what i am dealing with

Hi motulman - my '16 has two CDI units that simply have 'Shindengen' written on the back, each have two plugs, one with 4 'teeth' and the other with 2. My battery sits in a molded tray that is connected directly to the airbox. Its a bastard to get out from under the frame so the last owner of your bike probably just cut it off, not a bad idea really Wink Im confused myself at the moment as some bits on my bike seem to be from later models, don't know why I didn't buy an RGV to be honest as the customer support is just miles ahead for Suzuki here in New Zealand. Shocked

ahug030 has the correct MC16 setup, with two black boxes. They're not PGM ignitions as we know an love. That didn't happen 'til the MC18 Mk1.

Oh, and you didn't buy a Suzuki like everyone else because you didn't want to be like everyone else!
