mc18 premix?????

Sun Apr 23, 2006 9:17 am » Post: #1 » Download Post

well its not running premix yet... but im after some advice before giving up and running it on premix!

since replacing the complete front barrel etc... and taking off the top for inspection whilst i was at it (bike had sat for 6mths since front piston rings went etcc... not sure if thats gonna make a difference???) its deffinatly not running right - am i missing something?

the front runs fine (needs a little fine tuning but thats neither here or there) however the top seems to be getting way-to-much two stroke oil, there is petrol etc going there and oil is being burnt off.. there is a coniderble amount of 2t smoke and oil coming outta the exhaust un burntoff..

im thinking all it coulb be is either carbs maybe or part of the 2t oil mixing system thingy on the bike ?????

any ideas guys?

really appreciate any help here guys.

cheers

I'd be more inclinded to think it's a problem with the top cylinder itself not firing properlyIF there is a problem at all, a massive amount of smoke is common if it's not run for a while. I was that concerned mine was smoking like crazy on the top (untouched) cylinder and not at all on the front when it was first fired up after it's latest drama we took the carbs off to check the front carb had an oil pipe on at all.
And some oil does come out unburnt anyway but not really an amount you can see (unless the ground it wet and you can see the colours of the oil reflecting in the rain puddles).

But if you're concerned it's the pump why not switch the oil pipes round so the problem should move to the front cylinder? That'll either eliminate or confirm the problem is the pump. I've never heard of one going wrong though.

I don't see how the carbs could allow the pump to pass too much oil through.
