Myself and Jeff350lc did a trackday at llandow yesterday,we had a reallly good time but it was pouring down with rain and really windy but it did'nt stop "The mighty 18" showing everyone in our group the way round, there was the usual amount of Gsxr's,R6's in our group but also there was a TL1000,RGv250(VJ22) an Aprilla RS250,a new ZX?R thing and some other bikes, when we set out in the group me and Jeff set off behind the instructor and we all had to do 3 laps behind him to warm the tyres up so I was well happy to have lapped everyone in each session we did as the sessions were only 15 mimutes long,I did'nt manage to lap Jeff but I did get to to about 50 meters from catching him (yes i know it not a race ,but it is to me)
I did get a talking to from one of the course officails as they said I had overtook in a corner(i did'nt),as it was raining this was banned and we were only allowed to pass on the straights,What he told me had happened was I had passed a TL1000 on the front straight then I pulled back in front of him before the bus stop , the RGV that I passed (lapped)on the corner before the front straight had followed me but when he tried to pass the TL1000 it was too late as the TL was turning into the bus stop so the RGV T boned the TL and they both went down behind me,I sill dont know what this had to do with me or why I got a talking to.
When we stopped for lunch most of the GSX's and R1/6's packed up and went home(I think they were embarrased about being lapped by a 19 year old 250 that is on stock suspension and on road tyres or it might have been just too wet).i did the first session after dinner and was told too move up a group which I think was an achievement on a 250 in the wet seeing what else I was out with, but I never got too go out in the other group as they stopped the meeting as someone on a R1 had a big off and made a right mess of the bike,I dont know what happened too the rider but they decided the weather had got too bad to carry on as you could only see half way down the straights.
I think I can speak for Jeff here,Jeff has decided the GSX'R 400 that he got for trackdays(he used it for the first time yesterday) is going to be sold and he will be joining "Team mighty 18 Racing" as he was there to see "the mighty 18" in action and wants a piece of it.
Sounds sweet, there's a ridiculous amount of grip at Llandow in the wet, even on normal tyres. _________________ Please do not PM me technical questions, if you can't find it on the Forum start a thread
Still doesn't make riding in the rain fun! _________________ MC21SP Plaything

I would have agree too fontyyy about the grip,I was thinking as I was riding round about how hard you could push the front and still brake,I amazed myself that i did'nt have a fall ,The only time it got a bit hairy was out of the bus stop as it started spinning up and thitching with the bike still lent over but I put that down to the left side of the tyre being cold.
The rain did'nt stop the fun as it was'nt cold,it was about 15'C.
I,m really looking forward to the NSR-world one now
What Waynes not telling is that he only got close to lapping me once, and that was only because i got stuck behind a couple of new 600s, and could not make a safe pass.
To say it was wet was an understatement I like to overtake in the last bend before the pit straght, but the standing water made it inpossable unless you cut up the inside, a move we were told NOT to do, Wayne
I think with a bit of carb work and a change of gearing, the GSX-R would be a good track bike. I love the handling, but not the engine. Whats all this locking the back wheel on down shifting about I think my antics into the bus stop gave the control tower folk a laugh or two.
Its back to two strokes for me. If a deal i'm working on at the moment comes off, team MIGHTY 18 will be formation flying at the next track day
Anyone want to swap a jet ski for a GSX-R 400 well every time i've been to Llandow its rained worse than before
