HRC jet kit

Sun Dec 05, 2004 4:44 pm » Post: #1 » Download Post

Anybody have bad experience after installing the HRC jet kit?

I have a streetgoing MC21 with JHA over-rev chambers, wiresplice and airbox mod with the oil injector still inoperation. Jetting was a bit bigger than stock on the MJ, the PJ was blocked off and with stock needles. This setup ran fine except the midrange area was a dog.

I got the HRC jet kit. I used the B needles, emu tubes, needle holder, and the X, Y. The MJ was jet up a couple to be start out. It ran great for about 36 km and the rings/piston blew on the rear cylinder.

I got new rings/piston and head. Cylinder was ok, with just a light scratch by the exhuast port. I didn't really find out why the rings blew. Everything was the same, jetting a little richer. I checked for leaks, everything check out fine. So I went ahead and put in the new rings/piston and head. Checked for any air leaks. Went out for test ride. This time it lasted 46km before the rings blew on the same cylinder. Now the cyclinder have a deep gouge on the wall. So the cylinder is gone.

Anybody know what could cause this? I suspect the needles because the only thing that really change is that I used the needles and the x and y pieces. My jetting is pretty much the same. And this seems to happen after I open up a bit on the straight. I'm going to return everything back to before and try the 300 kit since my cylinder is screwed up arleady. But I want to find out the cause of this first. Anybody have a good picture of the hose routing of the original x and y pieces? I want to put it but to stock but could remember how it goes. Are the direct replacement?

I hate to say it and go against the "norm", but when I used the HRC jet kit I had alot of problems. Reliability and power were both down, spooge was horrible out the pipe. The midrange sucked. And I am no slouch when it comes to jetting. I have no experience with using the kit with the oil injector pump blocked off/running premix, though. I think the kit is probably best when used with a heavy castor-based premix and full engine race mods.
