It died

Tue Jul 25, 2006 6:18 pm » Post: #1 » Download Post

I had a little problem with the bike on the way to the track. I made it about 180km & the bike was running very strong.

The temp gauge started moving side to side a little, after a couple of minutes the needle was all the way to the left as far as it would go. It was like this for a few minutes & then it died. I kicked it over a couple of times & nothing. I noticed the lights on the cluster looked dim, so I turned the key off then back on & it started right up. It's been started a few times since but never ridden. It starts right up & rev's good.

Any idea's? Does it sound like an electrical problem? What's with the temp guage?

Thanks

There's a honda troubleshooting chart floating around on the web somewhere (I saw it linked from cbr250.com a while back) that describes all manner of strangeness to do with the temp guage. On most mid 80-mid90 hondas, the temp guage seems to be a good fault finding tool for shorts etc in the electrical system according to this chart.

Anyone else seen this? If I get a minute I'll try to find it, btu I think its safe to assume a loose connection somewhere.
