Llandow track day pictures.

Fri Jul 28, 2006 9:00 pm » Post: #1 » Download Post

Hi

I attended the track day as a spectator (gate crashing from the RGV forum) with my family, had a great day and the kids enjoyed it too.

I had the time to take a load of pictures which I thought I would share with you.

If it breaks your image hosting rules then please ammend to links but I thought you might like to see them.

Highlite for me was not an NSR but the Foxcraft RGV500 that I hadn't seen since the early 90's (at the NEC show) in the flesh and on the track

Thanks for a great day.

Barry

Excellent work, Barry. thanks for sharing those.

The pics of my TZR 3XV should have been the other way round though: Firstly in 'fully dressed and ready to go' mode, and then in semi-naked disgrace after it thoughtfully mocked my earlier description of the 3XV motor as 'bulletproof' by spitting it's dummy (crank) on only my second session of the day Embarassed .

Still had a top day out though; being around that many strokers always makes me feel like a junkie in an unlocked chemists. Thanks in particular to Martin, Fonty and Wayne for loaning me their bikes so I could get some track time after mine went pop. And to NSR-world Andy, despite his (very) thinly disguised glee that a Yam' was the only bike to lunch itself all day (as far as I'm aware). Rolling Eyes

As an added bonus (always best to think positive when your motor's just eaten iteslf I think), while I'm waiting for parts for the 3XV rebuild I might finally find the time to properly sort the MC21.

Thanks again to Andy for organising a great day out. It was worth going just to take the air.

Cheers all. it was good to put some faces to names.

Did you suss out the full extent of the damage to the TZR mate? I am really tempted to buy one after seeing yours (despite the damage) you don't fancy selling one do you?

Not had chance to check yet, but It definitely felt like the crank rather than the top end. It's the original crank though, which has given 15 years and 30 odd thousand km's of good service. I knew it was getting a bit grumbly; I Just wished it had hung on 'til later in the day to give up the ghost.

No 3XV's for sale though, sorry. They do come up from time to time though. If you find one I'd happily give you some pointers/advice on what to look for.

Great pictures Barry, thanks for posting them. Ade (1983 YPVS and I 88 MC18) had a great time. We got up at 5am to get to the track on time and got back at 9pm. A superb day, great fun, great people, great bikes. Can't wait until next time.

Here you go:

http://www.pauldickson.co.uk/racing/

Us TDR boys had a great day, hope we didn't slow anyone up too much... Evil or Very Mad

Lee (Watfordhorn) it was a pleasure, and a surprise!, to meet you again after, what, 8 years ?

I think Llandow suited the TDR's, particularly the Bus-Stop.

We'll be back next year (if we're allowed), but with another 10-15BHP, then perhaps you lot won't pass us on the straights...

Thank's for posting the pictures Barry. A great selection.

I was so busy yesterday that I only managed to take 1 photo!

A HUGE thank you to everyone that came and made it a great event! Even the specially ordered sunshine arrived early!! The first ever sunny Llandow I think! Smile

Great to meet everyone and put Forum names to faces, and I was extremely happy to hear everyone thoroughly enjoyed the day and say they would return again next time!

Just one 4T to spoil the day, but we'll let Claire off as we like her, and Nigel does bring at least 2 2T's with them aswell, and does a lot of running around... and instructs!!! Very Happy We will convert you though Claire! Laughing

Highlight of the day for me was the batlle (well, race really - but we're not supposed to have any racing!!) between nsr.wayne and Chester362 on the MC21F3 and MC21/300 respectively! Both motors tuned by our very own StephenRC45, and both absolutely flying! Both 21's (the best NSR incidentally!!Smile) in that session were simply wasting everything on track, and for me personally it was magical to see!

It's taken literally years to get a decent group of NSR's together - let alone on track, but there's a real good friendly crowd keen to do the same now, and the hard work over the years is definitely paying off.

Again, thank you to everyone. Thank you to the 6 (read it SIX!!) TDR boys for grinning from ear to ear all day and being far from the mobile chicane they threatened to be, to Jim and Adrian from Classic Bikes for also getting MCN to put a small ad online which consequently drew in a few more smokers that arrived on the day, including the wonderful Foxcraft RGV500, and wb for blowing up his "bullet-proof" 3XV motor!! Laughing

Apart from poor old "bullet-proof" wb (yep, you know you are gonna regret saying that forever Warwick!!Smile), everyone went home with complete bikes, intact motors, and unbroken bodyparts, although there were a few scaped expansion chambers and fairings due the massive grip available on the day, and one completely destroyed rear slick off of elegy's Aprilia RS250!!

I LOVED EVERY MINUTE OF IT!! Twisted Evil

I`d just like to add my thanks to everyone who organised the event & turned up.

I`m aching like mad, dented & scraped one of my new Tyga pipes, finished off the knee sliders & wore a hole in my right boot!

It was well worth it though.

It was good "not racing Wayne"! Wink

Brought home how unusual it is these days to have a load of two stroke bikes together anywhere, let alone at a track.

It`s easy to forget how much of an achievement it is to organise an event like this & actually have a good turn out.

I was impressed by the TDR`s, the track obviously suited them. They seemed to be handling very well & had good power.

Same goes for the LC nutter who was pogoing out of most turns!

I was sorry to se the 3XV retire, seemed to be going quite quickly until it bit the bullet!(sorry)!. I do like the styling of these bikes.

Thanks again to Andy, Stephen for letting me have a go on his bike & elegy for lending me stuff during the day.

It`ll be good to do it again.

Cheers

Roy.

What a day it was,I loved it but only after Stephen told me that Roys 21 that "I was not racing Wink " had his old tuned 300 kit on it,I was getting really miffed that he could pass me on the start/ finish straight.

I'm glad that I'm not the only person aching,Infact I can just about walk the tops of my legs are killing me Crying or Very sad

I will have to say that I was surprised how quick the TDR's and LC's were.

Big thanks to Stephen for trusting me with his 21 but I'm not sure how much he did trust me as his last words before I went out on it were"dont rev it past 12 and DONT CRASH IT" Shocked I dont know what made him think I would.

Thanks to Andy and Nigel for making the day happen.

Even though i spent most of the day up to my armpits in MC18, Rolling Eyes i had a great day.
After yet another carb strip, the 18 was running strong and i was getting well into the grove. but after i pitted to remove the wasp from my helmet, the bugger stripped its gear change linkage Mad
Good to see all the strokers out again. And good to see another two stroke thrashing journalist, good on you Jim keep it up.
Thanks for the pics Barry!and the video Very Happy
