jetting

Wed Jul 26, 2006 10:32 pm » Post: #1 » Download Post

there seems to be a flat spot at around 7k.
it hesitates for a second then it goes.
I am assuming that might be my needle right?
the stock needles are not adjustable.
is the HRC needle adjustable? can I get it separately?

Secondly the bike seems to rev out really slow in 3rd gear onwards.
when I did a plug chop the color was a little on the rich side but nice and dry. does being restricted have anything to do with that?

thanks

The HRC needles are adjustable like most or all aftermarket kits. I have a complete kit that I haven't used yet. I will check the part # for the needle.

A std NSR is rich anyway purely for safety reasons, Honda can't sell a roadbike you can't use in the cold!
You'll never really tune the hesitation around 6-8k out just faffing around with the needle with otherwise std jetting as the std needle is effectively a B needle on the leanest setting anyway.
Putting the HRC needles in without the HRC emulsion tubes is asking to get a needle jammed in a mj and the HRC needle holders are better too.
A '21 has the timing is tailed off in the higher gears (see here for how to sort it).

I'm presuming this is your '21 in '28 clothes?
If so you need to get the main right for the pipes having done both wiresplices and maybe opened up the airbox a bit before you worry about cleaning up part throttle midrange splutters.

Thanks Fontyyy,
yes this is for my 21 in 28 clothes haha. I made a guess and tried 140/142 main jets. did a few plug chops and the color is a medium brown.
So running moderately rich.
I wanted it to be running the way it should before I attempt derestriction.
I have the HRC delimiter and wire harness, and will put it on one of these days.
How are you guys opening up the airbox? the tyga ones look like the snorkel section is cut off.

There are 2 sets of bottles, one on the carb tubes and the other on the reed cage. are you guys blocking both sets off?

Hmm, I put the HRC derestricter on but it still doesn't rev out of 3rd gear.
am i too rich or could it be because I have a front R head on a SP cylinder.
the front has 110psi while the rear is 120.
