Front Axle

Wed Aug 23, 2006 8:52 pm » Post: #1 » Download Post

Hi all, had a question regarding front axle on my 93 nsr250r MC21. I recently swapped wheels out(freshly powder coated), when aligning the front axle there is a grooved line on right side of axle, should this line be flush with front fork bottom ??? or should there be a certain mm's away from fork ?? After torqeing down pinch bolts and axle bolts I noticed a good amount of drag on the front wheel when on the front stand. Please advise as i do not have a manual for this bike. Here's a couple pics of my racebike.

Thanks for your input!

The spindle normaly goes in almost to the tommy hole. Might be worth checking, the spindle should go in from the left as it uses part of it as the spacer. One side uses a wider spacer than the other, if the spindle or spacers are put in backwards the disk lightly rubs the inside of one of the fork legs.

When I purchased the bike the Tommy hole you are referring to was on the clutch side (is this the left side you are referring to? Does the grooved line closest to the tommy hole need to aligned to anything though?

Appreciate your input!!!

No, the hole should be on the other side of the bike. I cant remember off the top of my head though which spacer goes on what side. The line is often close to flush with the bottom of the fork leg or just inside so you cant see it.
