Porting

Fri Aug 25, 2006 10:28 am » Post: #1 » Download Post

Was thinking about having some porting work done this winter when I refresh the top end of 21's engine.

Don't want major (unreliable) work done just a road tune balancing everything up.

Who would you recomend?

Can recomend BDK, send them your barrels they have all the machines onsite. both James and Sam are into there 2 strokes in a big way, And have just done my bike, they didnt port anything as such but replated one barrel, honed the other sorted the squish in both heads and put it all back together. Give em a call for a quote sam always answers. they have loads of 2 stroke tunning experiance, and do lots of conversions. mention Me "Jamie" or this site as he knows both well!

Most people (correct me someone) say the 21 is pretty good anyway and just needs a tidy to take all the edges of it.

To be fair there are two people in the country I'd let wield spanners (let alone a dremel) anywhere near my bike (well, three actually), Steve, Andy and Apex Leisure.

Not a long list I know, but a safe one Wink

BDK?
Anyone who machines an NSR head at a cost of £30 rather than use a £4 HRC gasket to do the same job (put an R head on an SP barrel), tries to "flush" crank cases out or charges £200 for a top end repair kit (£148 at Tyga, £123 at Apex) is not to be recommended.

Dave, Andy, Charles please feel free to mod this post if you think it's out of order Wink

Thanks Fontyyy, I'm almost flattered.

Of course NSR-World will soon be offerning services such as crank rebuilds (we have done quite a few now and have had very good results), crank cases mods, lightened fly wheels, and race clutch baskets. As well as barrel work etc.
