The new carbon reeds I got from Tyga were the same way so I just flipped them so they would make a good seal. I'm not sure if it really matters all that much.
The reeds are actually curved, and should be fitted the correct way round. If they don't seal properly then it is way past time to replace them. _________________ Andy.

Obviously new TYGA reeds are "new", so you won't have anything to worry about. There should be a little cut-out on one corner of the read that aligns with the angled corner of the stock reed stopper to assist in assembly.
If stock reeds are assembled this way and they leak, turning them over to try and get a seal is a false economy in my opinion. _________________ Andy.

Thanks Andy, I didn't know about the cut-out. I'll look closer. _________________ james
