can anyone help me i need a lower cylinder as ive just noticed that my basket case of a bike has one of the exhaust mounting studs snapped off at the flange when i say stud i mean stud threads and part of the exhaust manifold missing.
being new to this forum i have yet to find out who people are so if one of the above people with a spare lower cylinder for an mc16 would like to pm me with details if they want to sell me one.
Ah Sorry, Paul and Matt run Tyga (see link above) in Thailand and have most of your NSR needs, However, i should have asked what model it was, being a 16 it might prove a bit more difficult to track down, But its worth Emailing Matt (Matt@TYGA user id here) or give the Admin (Andy) a buzz, they may have some sitting around..or direct you in the right direction.
If it was me I`d get it ally tig welded by a good welder.
You can dress it up after & drill & tap a new hole.
Hell of a lot cheaper than a new/ s/h barrel.
I`ve got a spare barrel I got with my bike that someone butchered trying to drill out a snapped exhaust stud. I`m going to have the same thing done to it.

Did you get it done ?
What were the results ?
How was it done?
I have tried, but in this mechanically undeveloped country I couldn't find anyone who could remove a broken top stud. _________________ Poul

I haven`t had this barrel done yet. I`ve had good results in the past.
Whoever drilled the broken stud in my spare barrel let the drill wander. So they just stuck a bolt through at an angle.
I managed to get the bit of the stud out that was left. So now I`m going to get the hole welded up & drill a new hole & tap a new thread.
In the past I`ve drilled out broken studs. Then cleaned out the hole with a tap. Have to drill it centrally.
If you`re not happy with the fit of the new stud after this you can fit a helicoil insert, you can buy kits in different sizes. You then drill the hole out larger than the original size. Use the special tap to cut a new thread. Then screw in the spring-like insert with the key which brings back the thread to the original size. You are left with a more hardwearing steel thread to fit the new stud to then.
Another method is spark errosion by a specialist.
I would`ve thought you should be able to find somewhere in Denmark to get one of these types of repair done?
