I have a problem with my powervalves on my MC21. They don't work!
I've checked all the sensors and they seem to be fine. I'm not sure if the problem is with the PGM or the servo motor.
I was wondering if there was anybody within reasonable driving distance of Kingston, Surrey (SW London) with gauranteed working PGM and Servo that could help me find out which it is.
Got a track day booked at Pembrey beginning of July and last time out I highsided because of the harsh power delivery I've got with wedged open powervalves. Would rather avoid that again if possible!
I hope I am not too late to help?! I have a PGM box which needs proving regarding power to the coils, but when I did briefly get my 21 started I know the power valves were moving!!!
I get up that way fairly regularly (to see mates in Surbiton), so let me know if I can still be of assistance?
Yours

If the cables were too tight, or the servo was damaged/siezed, this could have indeed cause the PGM to fail.
If a replacement PGM and servo are fitted, just leave the actuator cables unconnected, and then you should see the mechanism operate without putting the replacement PGM in danger.
I would say that if the harness is stock, it is highly unlikely there is anything on it that would cause a PGM failure.
Second that. If the loom is standard, then unless it's chaffed through some of it's insulation it'll be fine. (And that's damned unlikely).
The power valve motor drawing too much current is the most likely culprit in killing the PGM, so as Andy says, disco the cables and you shoul dbe okay.
By the way, you should be able to move the valves by hand with the ignition off, so if you can't they're seized up and need cleaning. Do it before they do you! _________________ MC21SP Plaything
