mc 21 no spark

mc 21 no spark

i only have this bike for three weeks,jap import just off the boat.was going fine ,but came to a standstill yesterday .it is not sparking there is no power to the primary coils and no power from the pgm pins to the coils.what should i suspect ?

Go to jamies nsr site (see the links page on this site) and goto the technical section. there is a wiring diagram done by Andy, the top bloke that runs this site, for the '21. Check and see if there is any power going to the pgm from the pickups on the alternator and check that all male/female connections are tight. I had a persistant missfire on my '16 due to a poor connection.

Best of luck as pgm's aren't cheap I'm afraid. Sorry.

Maybe obvious but check the battery and rectifier. my 21 was hard to start and was lumpy in idle when i bought it, but a new battery and all is well...Just a thought.

thanks for the advice, and welcome. i have not owned a stroker since I had a KH250 way back in the last century,and had forgotten the buzz of a 2tac coming on the pipe!anyway the good news is I have some warranty with the bike and if it is the pgm,not my expense.will check the pulse gen.and kill switch,and let you know how i get on.
