Picked up my MC18 yesterday, and what a nightmare :(

When I got it home and started to check what mods had been done to it.
To say the least, I was deeply disapointed.
The former owner had, instead of doing the wiresplice, just butchered the inside of the RC-valve servo and set the valves on fully open!!

This is a former track bike, so all the excess electrics had been cut and removed, so now I also need to make a new electrical system or buy a used one Evil or Very Mad

And as if that wasn´t enough, the power jets ( http://tech.nsr-world.com/nsr/mc18/mc18-power-jets/ ) was removed too, although I don´t know what they do, I´d like them to be on my bike rather than in my spareparts case.
What´s the purpose of these power jets anyway?

Also no speedo or meterstand was included....

Also, I´m wondering what the little box before the PGM2 does? It has exactly the same connector as the PGM2 and therefore I wonder if this is an option part of some sort ? Since it´s possible to connect the PGM2 without this little box.

But hey, what can you expect when you pay 700£ for a MC18 SP with a lot of spare parts, it´s at least running...

And last I´d like to ask how important it is to use the RC-valves? and how is the RC-valves controlled?
In the bottom of the RC-servo it looks like a drainage hole, but is this some kind of vacuum steering for the servo? And if so,what kind of parts do I need for this to make the servo work properly?
Also I´m in need of at least a new servo, does anyone have one for sale? and maybe some more parts for the servo steering?

Thanks in advance /Stefan

Did you know it was a track bike when you bought it, and do you want to turn it into a road bike?

If you plan to keep it as a trackie I wouldn't worry about too much of that stuff... If you want to turn it into a roadie, well, I wouldn't bother, but I'm sure its been done so I won't stop you!

Have a read about the carbuertion in the tuning section for what the powerjets do. Mine is missing one of the air solenoids, btu runs pretty well without it.

I dunno what the box is, but my mc18 has something that sounds similar. If the bike runs with it in so I'd just leave it in there! My bike only has a PGM1 though so It could be something completely different.

The only "box" I know of that plugs directly into the PGM-II is the HRC delimiter. A photo or more info would be handy.

A new servo would benefit you immensely in my opinion. I have ridden an Eric Gorr tuned MC18 with static RC Valves that went like a rocket, but drop out of the powerband and you lose so much go! A fully operational RC Valve system is much better.

You need to check the power jet system. You will probably find that the brass tubes into the float bowls are blanked (usually with epoxy, but I do know someone who used matchsticks!! Rolling Eyes), therefore eliminating the need for PJ blanks. It does the same job as soldering up the standard PJ's, but is much harder to reverse! What size mains are the carbs running?

Like NickoPen says; what do you intend to do with the bike?

I knew that it was a trackbike, and I'm gonna make it a roadbike again.
The NSR's are extremely rare here in Sweden, so I haven't got much of a choice if I don't choose another bike, like the RGV.
But I've always loved Hondas so I think it's worth spending both love and money on this bike, especially since it´s one of only ten -89 NSRs that was sold here in Sweden, and probably some of them have been wrecked over the years, making this one even more rare.
And on top of that, this is the SP model!

I just realized, I still have the power jets lying in the spareparts case, so i could just reattach them again! But I don't have an electrical system besides the tacho, ignition and power-valve steering.
So I will probably need a new electrical system too...
Where does the air solenoid connectorsgo anyway? It cant just go to 12v and ground, or is it that simple?

Also, the brass tubes aren't blanked at all, they are open and have a 7-8cm long rubber tube on each so they won't flood over or something?!

Since I don't have a camera I just have to describe the box, It has a connector in one end (the end that plugs into the PGM2), and about a 20-25m (8-10inch) long wireloom that has completely different colored wires than the original wireloom.
And in the other end is the little boz i talken about, it is black and about 10z5x2,5cm (4x2x1inches) and the other connecter i built in in this box.
Anyone getting wiser with this explanation?

And back to the RC-servo steering, is the servo steered by electronics, by air/vacuum or by both?
And does anyone have a Servo for sale maybe?

Thanks again /Stefan

Oh, I almost forgot, the carbs are still running with the original #128 m/j's (And no filterbox mod have been made yet)
