I have finally finished rebuilding my mc21 sp Pentax. I didnt quite make my summer deadline but Im well chuffed with it.
I bought the bike a year ago and althougth it was all there and standard apart from JHA pipes it was showing its age. I stripped it down to nothing and started from their: engine rebuilt with new pistons, seals, crank case ports cleaned and matched to barrels, cases painted, hrc reeds and stuffers. The chassis has re-oiled and sealed rvf forks, new wheel and head race bearings all nuts and bolts have been replated and wheels repainted. repaired upper fairing and seat panels, nos lower fairings all repainted in the original colours and clear coat laquered, new cables throughout, new brake pads, new chain and nsr world sprockets, nos rear mudguard, alternator cover, headlight and loads more bits and bobs which I cant remeber.
Probably the most useful tools I have used in this rebuild is this website and Jamies website and all the help from various forum members who have supplied pearls of wisdom and sold various parts to me! Everyone I have meet or dealt with have been exceptionally nice people!
Anyway I better add some pics before you all get bored:

Thanks,It was a lot of effort as I did virtually everything myself (including painting the bodywork which was a steep learning curve)and at times you wonder why you are bothering but now its finished its all worth while. Iam not sure wether to keep the standard pipes and just modify the airbox or go for a set of Tygas as well. I know some of the guys on here have got good power with the stock pipes but I fancy the looks and sound of different pipes.
I should be at the ace cafe on Sunday and I will bring those bits for you Andy, I had a coolant leak after my first ride but luckily I still have my 21r and I have robbed the rad and hoses off of that so I think it will be okay for Sunday.
Nice work paul did you buy it from someone in Portsmouth called Jamie ?? _________________ Harley Davidson is the worlds most efficient way to turn petrol into noise without the harmful side effect of horsepower.
Hi Paul, I met up with you at Peterborough services a few months ago with the exhaust. Your bike looks fantastic! If we manage to meet up on the NSR's next summer i'm going to be ashamed to park mine next to that! _________________ Warning:
