Hmmm. Try taking the frame number to your Honda dealer?

Jump in your time machine and go back to when you did have it, and get a spare cut?

F3 ignition?! Wink You only need a kill-switch then!!

Seriously though, Dave's is the best option really, or scan eBay for an MC21 ignition barrel and key.

I belive the blank is similar to some cars, so maybe if you take the ignition barrel off and into a good locksmith, they may be able to make a key for you.

You'll need a T6 Torx bit to remove one of the bolts securing the barrel... unless it's already been off once for some reason!

I'd doubt it, when the frame is made nothing as far in advance as the key barrel will even be decided.
Honda may or may not have records all you can do is ask.

But Honda bike blanks are available so a locksmith should be able to sort it out.

I just nip down to the old woman by the side of the road. She peers into the lock with an old dim torch, pulls out a file and hacks away at a blank. 5 minutes later I'm sorted. Thailand eh? Rolling Eyes

I know I have checked a couple locall key shops and they didn't have a blank for the NSR. I'll bet Honda keeps the codes, but that also assumes the locks had never been changed before.

I'm sure it's the same as a particular Toyota blank or something, but I honestly can't remember which. It was one of the guys Stateside that found out when he had the same problem.

You need to find a friendly auto locksmith who's prepared to spend 15 minutes with you to go through a range of blanks to see what matches the lock shape!

Personally I'd put a "wanted" advert in the Classifieds! I'm sure there is someone out there with an unwanted ignition lock and key.

Hey all you MC21 guys! In a nutshell, if nsr250eeeee is in the USA, Honda has no codes and most locksmiths have no codes. May be the same situation in other countries, too. The correct key blank is available from Honda for a couple bucks, #35121-MN9-611. Buy 2 and keep a spare. Code is marked on the barrel of the lock assy; Andy already gave removal instructions. With your new key blanks and with barrel in hand, try your local "real" locksmith, like the one Matt described. If you still can't get the keys cut then kindly pm me and we'll get this squared away right quick, eh. You do want to ride again, don't you?

There's a guy on ebay that I got keys from and if you have the key code he can cut them for you. Look for keys4classicscom.

Thanks for the advice guys.

I havent given it a shot taking the ignition barrel off yet, but would it be made harder by the fact that the steering is locked?

No.

The only difference that will make is maybe access to one of the bolts, but you will be able to get in there once the top fairing and instrument stay are removed.

Well im totally stuffed now hehe.

I bought a torx set, got the 3 little torx screws out easy enough, but i ended up totally destroying one of the two larger torx screws either side of the barrel because it was in so tight! Now i have no way of turning it.

So I now have no key, no way of getting the lock barrel out, and no way of riding my nsr Sad

Any more options? Would this work to remove it

Drill out the torx head. Or buy a new triple clamp and lock set.
