My mum's asked me what I want for Xmas, she nearly spat out her teeth when I said a new MV Augusta, so I'm aiming my sights a little lower. Anyway, I guessed one of those electronic weather stations might be handy. The ones which give air temp, pressure and humidity.
Got mine from Argos after reading something by mj43.
Around £60, Oregon Scientific. Radio clock, moon phase & all that.
Had it for a few months now. Seems to be quite good.
What are you gonna do with it Tom, and more to the point have you got that wheel yet? _________________ Please do not PM me technical questions, if you can't find it on the Forum start a thread
Yep got the wheel OK.....what a shag that all was, so the magteks are ready for collection. As for the weather station I was going to use it to track jetting on my RS. I'm guessing once I've been using it a while I'll be able to get a good set a base settings. The pevious owner had started the process so I'm just carrying it on.
And it'll save me from another year of book tokens..........
Yeah I used one when I was racing. Was helpful and interesting in equal measure, though I didn't race often enough to build up a decent data base for my setup.
Still have it in the kitchen and glance at it ever morning to see just how bloody cold it'll be outside... _________________ MC21SP Plaything

An Oregon BAA928U. Argos I think, with a remote thermal sensor ao I know inside and outside temps at home.
Does Temp, humidity, pressure moon phase and clock. Only the moon phase is pointless... _________________ MC21SP Plaything

Just seen today that M&S are selling two versions. Don`t know how good they are.
One`s £30, the other`s £80.
Both have the outside transmitter.
Cheaper one hasn`t got the moon though!
While tell him there's one for £80??? You guys. If there was one for £500 he'd just have to have it!! _________________ NSR300R - Why did i ever have a 250...
And stamp HRC on one and he would pay £1000 for it _________________ Harley Davidson is the worlds most efficient way to turn petrol into noise without the harmful side effect of horsepower.
I use an Oregon Scientific. Usual stuff, temp, pressure, humidity etc.
I recommend it!
You will of course need to get a good base setting to start with and then take lots of notes of the conditions. You'll then be able to get pretty much in the ball park next time you go out.
Remember there's lots of things that affect jetting so record as much as you can.
Temp up - Jet down (air less dense, less oxygen/volume of air)
Pressure up - Jet up (air more dense, more oxygen/volume of air)
Humidity up - Jet down (water in air displaces oxygen, but only small differences here)
Altitude up - jet down.
