cold cylinder?

Thu Aug 19, 2004 9:44 am » Post: #1 » Download Post

my front cylinder seem to always have a colder exhaust temp. right now im running 155 mains in both carbs and Im planning on going down to a 152 in the front. does that seem right? I may wait though. I also plan on switching out the PJs for blanks so I can run the HRC kit. whats a good starting point when using the HRC kit and retaining the oil injector? The setting on the tuning section are for premix setups. i figure that i can start with 175s and work my way down.

BTW. I just installed my TYGA reeds and carbon petals and shiet what a difference! never thought that somethinig so simple can change so much.

The HRC kit starts at 180's, as it's designed to work with the oil pump removed. On the street I doubt you'll need jets that big - I had no air filter and was rich on 180's on my race bike as I kept the pump...

I actually bought spare mains that range from 150-175. so you were using 180s with no filter. 175 is a good guess then. I plan on leaving the lid on, but pod do entice. I ran open carbs once and that felt nice.

well, i figured what was wrong. my slow jet had some blockage and my carbs were way out of synch. cleaned 'em up and synched the biatches and shite! worl of a difference. bike is so smooth now and crisps all they way up the powerband. This bike never ceases to amaze me when tuned right.....now to get the jetting right.
thanks for the help Dave.

Do you really think premixing has a big effect on mixture? To my thinking going from pump to premix only changes the mix about 3% at 32:1. That only pushes jets up less than one full step. Unless your jetting is already too lean you'll likely not even notice. That's been my experience anyway.

Dunno, as I never pre-mixed. I can only go by the kit I received, which ran from 180-210!!
